Atomic and molecular interactions, both experimental and theoretical, in a crystal of dinitrogen tetraoxide are described quantitatively. The three-dimensional picture of the experimental and theoretical Laplacian of electron density indicates that the electron density concentrations on the O atoms fit the areas of the relatively depleted electron density on the O atoms of the neighboring molecules.
