Novel 1-hydroxyimidazole derivatives have been synthesized starting with 6-methyl-4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-carbaldehyde. It has been demonstrated that the aldehyde under consideration is capable of both participating in the formation of 1-hydroxyimidazole heterocyclic system and reacting with acetyl substituent in 1-hydroxyimidazole ring. The latter interaction leads to a heterocyclic analogue of a chalcone. Certain features of the spectra of new compounds have been considered.
