COMBUSTION MECHANISM OF FIRE extinguishing FUELS ON THE BASIS OF PLASTICIZED IDITOL AND Potessium nitrate

In this work the combustion mechanism of fire extinguishing fuels on the basis of plasticized iditol and potassium nitrate, which contains additional fuel ~4,3% dicyandiamide (excess oxidant ratio (α) 0,985), was studied. It has been shown that as for fuels that has low α value (0,8) most of heat is released in condensed phase on account of direct interaction of molten potassium nitrate with decomposition products of iditol at high temperature of the reaction layer ~1300 K.
