The combustion behavior of mixtures of ammonium perchlorate (AP) with hydrocarbonbased binder has been investigated. It is shown that an increase in the content of binder results in a decrease in the burning rate of composition, which leads to an increase in the AP decomposition degree in the condensed phase. The temperature profiles in the combustion wave have been obtained. It is shown that the surface temperature of the investigated propellants is determined by the evaporation of plasticizer. The measured maximum combustion temperatures are slightly higher than calculated adiabatic ones, due to the formation of nonequilibrium amounts of carbon in the combustion products.
