Synthesis of crown-containing 4-pyrazolinilnaphthalimide derivatives was developed. The spectral properties of these compounds were investigated both in the presence and absence of metal ions. It was found that the binding of magnesium cations with benzocrown ether naphthalimide derivative is accompanied by the decrease of fluorescence intensity, and complex formation of naphthalimide derivative containing N-phenylaza-15-crown-5-ether functionality as Naryl substituent with calcium cations results in the enhancement of fluorescence intensity.
