Homogenity limits of CdTe was determined by direct technique of excess component extraction from quenched samples annealed in the temperature range 1271-1354 K near the maximum melting point. The behavior of the solidus indicates on the presence of polymorphous transition. On the base of the experiments and literature data the type of polymorphous transition was proposed and the phenomenon of Te microprecipitation in crystals, which had been grown from “stoichiometric” melt, was explained.
