Fine powders of complex oxide Gd2Zr2O7 was obtained by thermal decomposition of poly-acrylamide gel containing zirconium and gadolinium nitrates. Synthesis of main phase (Gd2Zr2O7) was shown to be completed after calcination at 700.C. Mechanical disaggregation of obtained powders was also studied. It was shown, that fraction of submicron sized particles achieved 80% after four hours of ball milling in water medium. Ceramic material with no open porosity and full density (as high as 99% of theoretical value) was prepared by sintering of coldpressed pellets.
