The combustion of mixtures with gradually increased composition has been investigated. It turns out that the combustion mode of binary mixtures with oxidizer depends on the particle size of oxidizer, changing from combustion by binder layers to the combustion of the system as a whole. In the case of highly filled compositions, combustion is governed by combustion of HMX, regardless of the oxidizer particles size and the nature of the binder. These components influence the burning rate of propellants, consuming or supplying heat in the combustion zone of HMX.
